Tar Heel Wolfpack Rumble

The Tar Heel Wolfpack rumble is a fundraiser for UNC Wesley and Raleigh Wesley, two United Methodist campus ministries in the North Carolina Triangle area. It uses the football rivalry between the two school as a way to fundraise through friendly competition, allowing fans of either team to pledge to donate a certain amount of money per point scored in the game (or make a one-time pledge). The Wesley with the most money at the end of the game wins the competition, but both Wesleys really win with the donations they gain through the event. The Tar Heel Wolfpack Rumble is set to take place late August 2019-November 30th 2019.

As someone with a lot of technical expertise (and a high degree of involvement in UNC Wesley during grad school), I was asked to help set up their website. As a web developer/UX researcher/information systems geek, this is a very exciting challenge for me. Designing an information system for two separate organizations to collect the information necessary for this fundraiser and making it easy for users to understand the challenge and donate to support their school are exactly the kind of problems I’m interested in solving.

I have discussed requirements with stakeholders from both Wesleys, and created a low-fidelity prototype to give them an idea of what the website could look like and get their feedback.

I am designing a survey to collect data on potential donors that will help me better understand usability challenges for the website and what it may be most helpful for the marketing of the survey to focus on. See the near final drafts of the Raleigh Wesley Survey here and the UNC Wesley Survey here.
